Physical Education at Lilydale High School
Years 7 and 8
Students participate in 4 periods of Physical Education per week each year which includes Health Education. They have 3 periods of practical and 1 period of theory.
Year 9
Students are required to do Core Physical Education (2 periods per week) which includes Health Education. Additionally, students must participate in at least 2 electives of Physical Education (each 2 periods per week) for the year.. An extra elective maybe chosen if desired. Electives include:
- Physical Education for Girls
- Physical education for Boys
- Court and Field Sports
- Netball
- Basketball
- Aerobics
- Racquet Sports
- Tennis
- Duke of Edinburgh Program
Year 10
Students can select Physical Education courses as electives. Year 10 Physical Education subjects include:
- Fitness for me
- My Body Systems
- Sports Science
- Sports Coaching
Fitness for me and My Body Systems can select those subjects as either boys or girls or as a mixed class.
At Year 10, students can apply for the Excellence in Sports program (EIS). These programs are select entry in which students will be required to undergo a selection process to gain entry. The EIS programs runs for:
- Australian Rules Football
- Basketball
- Netball
VCE
Each study is made up of four units, students can choose from:
- Physical Education
- Health and Human Development (can be chosen as a student’s Year 10 VCE subject)
- Outdoor and Environmental Studies (can be chosen as a student’s Year 10 VCE subject)
