Physical Education at Lilydale High School


Year 7 & 8

Students participate in 4 periods of Physical Education per week each year which includes Health Education.

Students can choose the Tennis elective.  This means they will participate in 2 periods of Tennis per week and 2 periods of the Core Physical Education program, including Health Education per week.


Year 9

Students are required to do Core Physical Education (2 periods per week) which includes Health Education. Additionally, students must participate in at least 2 electives of Physical Education (each 2 periods per week) for the year..  An extra elective maybe chosen if desired. Electives include:

  • Physical Education for Girls
  • Physical education for Boys
  • Court and Field Sports
  • Netball
  • Basketball
  • Aerobics
  • Tennis
  • Duke of Edinburgh Program

Year 10

Students can select Physical Education courses as electives.  Year 10 Physical Education subjects include:

  • Physical Education for Girls
  • Physical Education for Boys
  • Sports Coaching
  • Football Codes
  • Striking Sports
  • Fun and Fitness
  • Sport Science


Each study is made up of four units, students can choose from:

  • Physical Education
  • Health and Human development (can be chosen as a student’s Year 10 VCE subject)
  • Outdoor and Environmental Studies (can be chosen as a student’s Year 10 VCE subject)

  • Certificate III Community Sport and Recreation
