At Lilydale High School we have qualified and experienced Instrumental Music teachers in Woodwind, Brass, Percussion/Drum Kit, Guitar, Piano and Voice readily available for students to learn and develop music skills on an instrument.
As part of the program, students will have one lesson per week on a rotating timetable throughout the term on their lesson day. This is to ensure lessons do not interfere with their studies. As part of their lessons, students will also gain experience performing as part of our band and ensemble program.
We offer lessons for the following instruments:
Limited hire of woodwind and brass instruments is available through the school. Instrument hire fees are $150. By the second year of lessons, it is recommended that students purchase their own instrument.
It is an expectation that all Instrumental Music Students participate in a band or ensemble as part of their enrolment in the program. Students who currently learn an instrument externally from the school are also welcome to take part in school bands/ensembles. Students perform regularly as part of their band/ensemble at concerts, workshops and events throughout the year.
