2018 SEALP

Lilydale High School has offered a Select Entry Accelerated Learning Program since 1994. Lilydale is a foundation member of the Academy of Accredited SEAL Schools.  Entry to the program is through a selection process involving:

  • General ability test
  • Writing tasks
  • Reading comprehension tests
  • Mathematics tests
  • Information from parents
  • Information from the primary school teacher
  • Results of Year 5 NAPLAN testing
  • Latest school report
  • Interview


Testing Day

Testing for the Program will take place on FRIDAY May 19, 2017, from 9.15 am until approximately 12.30 pm.  Testing will take place at Lilydale High School.

To guarantee your child’s place in the test, all application forms, payment & supporting material must be received at the School Office by 3.30 pm Tuesday May 16, 2017.  The cost for the test is $30.

Nominations for School Council closed at 4 pm on Monday 22 February, 2016.

As the number of nominations received equalled the number of vacancies, there is no need to hold a School Council election.

The Arts Department Term 3 News

The Arts Department welcomes everyone to Term 3 where we are expecting another busy time with many exciting events on our school calendar.

School Production -‘All Shook Up’

Lilydale High School is renowned for its high quality performances that showcase the talents of students across all year levels and so we are all looking forward to this year’s School Production.

Tickets can be booked online from the school website:

Instrumental Music Soiree – 16 September

Solos, duets and small ensembles will be performing at a soiree evening  on Wednesday 16 September.  The night will be hosted by our fabulous Performing Arts captains and will showcase the musical talents of some of our individual and smaller group performances. We look forward to the evening taking place later in the year.

Artist of the Month

‘Artist of the Month’ is an award offered to all Visual Art students (Years 7-12).  Each month we choose an artist that has been working relentlessly in class to create an outstanding piece of art. The chosen student has their beautiful artwork displayed in a frame in the Visual Arts wing. They also receive a certificate of commendation to acknowledge this wonderful achievement and their name is published in the schools’ newsletter.


We continue to offer a variety of excursions this term to Galleries, Theatres, Films, Radio Stations and Concerts to expose students to a variety of art mediums and to arouse their own artist flare.  Students are encouraged to immerse themselves in these invaluable opportunities to further enhance their own educational possibilities.

Art Club

Art Club runs each Tuesday lunchtime in Room 4 where students can use the time to catch up on work or extend their own artistic skills.  These sessions are fully supervised by an Art teacher and this year’s Visual Art captains.  For more information, students should see Ms Hardy.

Anime Club

Anime Club is also running every Thursday lunchtime in Room 4.  Anime is a Japanese style of animation. If students love Anime, then they are encouraged to come along and watch various Anime Cartoons and create their own Anime designs. All year levels are welcome. For more information students should see Ms Hardy.

Clay Club

Clay Club runs every Friday lunchtime in Room 3 and is an opportunity for students to develop their ceramics skills in a supportive and friendly environment. For more information students should see Ms Young.

Theatre Appreciation Club

Theatre Appreciation Club is running again this semester.  Students from Years 7-12 are invited to take part in a visit into the City to see a full scale Theatre Production. Past performances have included Mary Poppins, Guys & Dolls, and Hairspray. Stay tuned for more information into this years’ outing.

Competitions & Prizes

The Arts Department continue to promote a variety of competitions in a range of Arts mediums. For more information, students are encouraged to visit the ‘Arts Competition’ board outside the Ramp Staffroom.  There are always lots of prizes to be won and various opportunities for students to showcase their talents.

Instrumental Program

Students are reminded that if they are interested in learning an instrument at Lilydale High School, they should visit the Performing Arts Centre and chat with Miss Amy Cumming our Instrumental Coordinator.

Instrumental lessons include:

Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Oboe, Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Percussion/Drums, Guitar, Bass Guitar and Voice.

Bands/Ensembles include:

  • Monday – Vocal Ensemble
  • Monday – Hendrix & Rookie Guitar Ensemble (Rotating)
  • Tuesday – Funk Band
  • Wednesday – Rookie Band
  • Thursday – LHS Band
  • Friday – Percussion Ensemble

LHS The Voice

Again, we are running the Lilydale High School ‘The Voice’ Competition which will be taking place July 26, 27 and August 3.

Students are encouraged to sign up and show off their singing talents. The panel will consist of staff and surprise guest judges. We look forward to finding our very own Craig Harrison or Anya Nissen!
