This National Reconciliation Week, LHS’s SRC and Student Leadership are running a range of activities. Reconciliation Week begins with the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and ends with the anniversary of the Mabo Decision

The activities throughout the week include:

  • Colouring Competition with the winner’s design forming the back cover of the Salamander this year
  • Music by indigenous artists being played as our “bell music”
  • Home Group activity creating statements of harmony

On Wednesday 31 May, students will hold a Celebration Day, which will include:

  • Wear a touch of yellow for Children’s Ground for a gold coin donation
  • Sausage Sizzle $2 for sausage in bread and $2 for cans
  • Face Painting for a gold coin donation

The money raised on the day will go to Children’s Ground: a charity that has a community-led approach to changing the future for First Nations children. They work with each child in every community to develop personal learning, health and cultural development plans. They also support the families that wrap around that child through flexible employment and community development initiatives.

We would like to encourage our wider school community to donate to this cause. Your donation will enable First Nations communities to become places of safety, hope, and opportunity.
