About the performance
It’s 1971 in Melbourne, and a young political protestor, Lewis, fresh out of University, is hired to direct a play in a mental asylum. He needs the money and he thinks himself quite the Creative. However, Lewis is quickly overthrown by the overly enthusiastic, and dominating Roy, a patient determined to perform Mozart’s opera, ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ despite nobody being able to sing, and nobody knowing Italian.
Throw in people with addictive personalities, a dozy musician who’s obsessed with Wagner and a pyromaniac, and you have yourself a comedy of errors and a very overwhelmed Director.
Between protesting a war he doesn’t understand, and connecting with a group of people he understands even less, Lewis is torn, is love and loyalty more important than politics and war?
