LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL PROJECT

Works alert – Utility relocation and site establishment works – JULY 2020

We are getting on with the job of removing the dangerous and congested Maroondah Highway level crossing in addition to building a new Lilydale train station.

Works to set up our construction site are underway, and we are now starting to relocate utilities. This works alert provides an overview of the construction activities that you may notice over the coming weeks commencing from Wednesday 1 July, 2020.

William Street East (Lilydale High School entrance)

  • Intermittent closure of car park spaces on William Street East (school) from July 2020
  • Pedestrian access will remain open
  • Access to all businesses on William Street East will be maintained
  • From July, works will continue to remove vegetation and install temporary fencing
  • Parents of students attending Lilydale High School are advised to use the basketballs courts at Melba Avenue to drop off students from July 2020

William Street West

  • During July utilities will be relocated in William St West with traffic disruptions and minor delays anticipated at the intersection with John Street
  • Intermittent closure of car park spaces during July 2020
  • Pedestrian access will remain open
  • Access to businesses will be maintained

John Street

  • From July, work will begin to construct a temporary construction worker car park and rail access route at 12 John Street
  • During July utilities will be relocated and service location works in John St will result in traffic disruptions, with minor delays anticipated between Cave Hill Road and William St East
  • Traffic management will be in place to facilitate the safe delivery of construction material and equipment using large trucks
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained with minor detours

Maroondah Highway Service Roads

  • From July, work will begin to relocate utility services with a combination of boring and trenching
  • Intermittent closure of some car parking spaces to enable the set-up of works
  • Pedestrian access will remain open
  • Access to all businesses on Maroondah Highway service roads will be maintained
